Global Health Uganda (GHU) is a registered not for profit, limited liability company with the
mission to promote child health by conducting and facilitating quality and relevant research in
child health, neurodevelopment and interventions. GHU is inviting applications for the following
positions for the CHEMCHA STUDY based in Jinja hospital.
STUDY NURSE (2 positions)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Obtaining informed consent from study participants/ caregivers of eligible patients as per
protocol, in accordance with GCP and HSP principles.
b) Counsel and explain study procedures to the caregivers of study participants.
c) Work with study medical officer to enroll eligible patients into the study, to meet the study
site specific accrual targets.
d) Complete study CRFs, correctly and accurately in compliance with trial procedures / SOPs
and GCP standards
e) Ensure study participant safety and privacy, and data integrity and confidentiality.
f) Provide emergency nursing care for study participants as per protocol.
Skills and person specifications:
• Hold a Diploma in Nursing and registered with the Uganda National Nurses and Midwives
Council.
• At least 1 year of post-qualification professional experience in handling children.
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and or human subject protection (HSP) training is a MUST.
• A minimum of two (2) years prior nursing experience.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
are a must.
• Prior research experience will be a strong added advantage.

HOME HEALTH VISITOR (1 position)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Carry out home visits to study participants to deliver study medication and review study
participants as per protocol and SOPs.
b) Ensure that necessary study forms including log books, CRFs, lab forms, check lists
patient files etc are accurately and completely filled at each visit as per protocol and
SOPs.
c) Document the physical locations and addresses of all study participants for purposes of
follow up.
d) Collect appropriate samples from the study participants and ensure that they are delivered
to the appropriate laboratories as per protocol.
e) Ensure study participants’ safety and confidentiality.
f) Responsible for maintenance, safety of the study motor cycle/ vehicle.
Skills and person specifications:
• Hold a Diploma in Nursing and registered with the Uganda National Nurses and Midwives
Council.
• Ability to ride a motorbike with a valid rider’s permit.
• Experience in a similar role will be an added advantage.
• Personal integrity, flexible and proactive.
DATA ENTRANT (1 position)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
a) Data entry for study data from different data sources.
b) Weekly data backup for all study data.
c) Database management (editing and verification).
d) Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information and
establishing entry priorities.
e) Reviewing data for deficiencies, resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or
returning incomplete documents to the team leader for resolution.

Skills and person specifications
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree either in Information Technology, Computer science, Statistics
or other relevant training.
• Good data entry skills with attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness and a high
energy level.
• Experience in research data entry in a research setting is an added advantage.
