University Research Co., LLC (URC) is a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005 is implementing the USAID’s Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in East-Central Uganda project (USAID’s RHITES-EC), a five year USAID funded activity that supports the 12 districts of Bugiri, Bugweri, Busia, Buyende, Iganga, Jinja, Kaliro, Kamuli, Luuka, Mayuge, Namayingo and Namutumba to implement interventions for integrated health services (Malaria, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Survival, Family Planning, Nutrition, HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment, Tuberculosis and Laboratory Services) and health systems strengthening.
USAID’s RHITES-EC program in the effort to address skills gaps and widespread youth unemployment is offering internship opportunities for fresh University graduates who originate from the project support districts (Bugiri, Bugweri, Busia, Buyende, Iganga, Jinja, Kaliro, Kamuli, Luuka, Mayuge, Namayingo and Namutumba) and are interested in pursuing a career in health sector. The internship placement will be for a period not exceeding six months. The interns will contribute to the implementation of RHITES-EC activity with the support and mentorship by the technical team.
Internship positions available:
4 HIV Care and treatment interns (at least a diploma in nursing or clinical medicine and community health), 3 Counselors, 3 Monitoring and Evaluation interns, 2 Nutrition interns and 3 Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) interns.
Qualification and Requirements:
• Fresh Graduates in a related field from a recognized institution.
• Strong in facilitation skills.
• Good computer skills (MS office, outlook, excel and power point)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Detail oriented
• Creative, analytical, with good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines

Interns will be placed at one of USAID’s RHITES-EC offices in Jinja, Iganga, Kamuli and Bugiri.
Summary of Internship Tasks:
Interns will assist host workplace teams on various project activities. Specific job descriptions will be designed to ensure that interns gain experience and skills in the field relevant to their undergraduate training and career goal.
